Overlooked

I was looking through some of my notes and I came to realize how much the X class was overlooked in the history books. It was mentioned that they were used in the construction of the line between Cockburn (on the SA side of the border) to Broken Hill (on the NSW side of the border) going through the town of Silverton as of 1888. By this time the X class had been in service for seven years. The Y class had recently arrived and were proving their worth, putting the X into secondary roles. However, they were few in number and the X were still an important mover of ore from Broken Hill to Peterborough and onto the smelting works for many years. The history books seem to start as of the late 1880’s or so, never giving a thought as to what preceded it. It’s like the X class never existed. If it weren’t for their input, there would be nothing to capitalize on.
