Future Engineer

There was a time when every young boy dreamt of being an engineer. The thought of handling a fire breathing machine would create drama and excitement. Sadly, those days have been replaced with a virtual world of high-tech games and movies. Fun in themselves, but kids of today don’t understand what life was like before, where your imagination and physical interaction with things gave a different form of stimulation. It’s possible have both. Steam locomotives are still a part of our life but requires a younger generation to learn and carry on from those who are currently using it. Old technology it may be, but it has a ‘real life’ experience that can’t get from a screen. To get down and dirty, to feel the heat, smell the smoke and steam, to be part of a living machine where you are in charge. How many people can say they have been ‘in’ the cab an operating steam locomotive!                           Go out and live it.
